Description

Anne of Austria (June Temple) from The Three Musketeers

This Anne of Austria was the wife of Louis XIII of France, mother of Louis XIV, and the queen of the Alexandre Dumas novel "The Three Musketeers".

I'm totally in love with those queen's costumes! So gorgeous, so baroque! And I even love the baroque fashion, I certainly prefer the renaissance costumes ;)

I've read some posts outraged by the lack of accuracy of this movie's costumes, thinking it's rococo, and therefore there could be so many ruffs on the dresses. But people did not take into consideration that this movie is set in the 17th century, the baroque period, not rococo, and at the very beginning of the baroque. And if still have any doubts, is easy to know if the costumes are accurate or not, just look the images of Anne of Austria and see her wearing a lot of ruffs, but the baroque ones shaped like petals, not like the elizabethans that are saying.

It looks like a baroque gown with an Elizabethan ruff. They could've made the costume more accurate.
