Desirée Clary Bernadotte the future Desideria, queen of Sweden and Norway
Desirée was the first love of Napoleon Bonaparte, but after he married with Josephine de Beauharnais, she becomes the wife of Jean Baptiste Bernadotte (the future King Charles XIV John).
In 1794, her father died. Her brother was arrested by the revolutionary government, and she was later to say that he was released by Joseph Bonaparte on her intervention, after which Joseph was presented to her family and married her sister. Désirée was presented to Napoleon Bonaparte, to whom she became engaged, but upon becoming involved with Joséphine de Beauharnais, whom he married, Bonaparte broke off his engagement with Désirée.
In 1810, Bernadotte was elected heir to the throne of Sweden. In 1818, her husband became king of Sweden; but she remained in Paris, just returning in 1823, she returned to Sweden together with her son's bride. On 21 August 1829, she was crowned Queen at her own request.
Her relationship with Napoleon was the theme of the movie Desirée, with Jean Simons as Desirée, Marlon Brando as Napoleon and Merle Oberon as Josephine. And this outfit is the one used by Jean, in Napoleon's coronation, in 1804.
Jean was stunning in the movie!
I also made her and Josephine's coronation dress, and you can see it in these links:[link][link]
