Description

Queen Ankhesenamen (Akhenaten and Nefertiti's daughter, and Tutankhamen's wife)

Ankhesenamun ("Her Life Is of Amun") was born as Ankhesenpaaten ("Her Life Is of Aten"), and was the third of six known daughters of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten and his Great Royal Wife Nefertiti, and became the Great Royal Wife of her (half-)brother Tutankhamun.

The change in her name reflects the changes in Ancient Egyptian religion during her lifetime after her father's death. Her youth is well documented in the ancient reliefs and paintings of the reign of her parents.

Ankhesenamen becames famous because a letter that she sends to the hittite king, Suppiluliuma I, asking him to send him one of his sons to marry her, because she did not want to marry one of his subjects for fear of what might happen. It's happens after the death of her husband, the king Tut, and the court should be very inhospitable and conspiratory against the royal couple.
The hittite, an enemy of Egypt, don't believe in her ask, so she send another letter asking again, promising the throne of Egypt the king's son. But the prince was intercepted on the way and killed, and the queen was forced to marry her grandfather Ayi, who probably was the main conspirator against the young royal couple, and after her marriage disappears of the historical records, but it is known that the request of the Queen was seen as treason by the Egyptian courtiers.
