Description
Sorcha of Sevenwaters (or Jenny of Harrowfield) is the main character from Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier.
She is a irish girl living with the bretons when she weaves the startwort shirts to break the spell that transformed her six brothers into swans (the book is inspired on the fairy tale of "The Six Swans").
She is very naive, but determined, and has a great inner strength, beyond the power of mentally talk with her brothers Connor and Finbar.
To successfully break the curse of her stepmother, Sorcha must weave six shirts with the fibers of a plant that hurts her hands, and can not utter a single word or sound. She pretend to be mute throughout the period that she is under the protection of Lord Hugh of Harrowfield, also known as Red. Despite all odds, they fall in love, even being members of the two enemies kingdoms, which makes her suffer a lot of prejudice and humiliation by the english people.
As the romance takes place in the beggining of King Aethelwulf of Wessex reign, I believe the approximate date is circa of 840.
